After having lived and worked in the Soviet-Union until 1990, Mr. Laurent Anthoons, general manager of Flarus NV, returned to Belgium to start up his own business. In 1995 the company FLARUS NV was registered, an independent company representing the interests of several companies on the markets of the former Soviet-Union, mostly Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Mr. Laurent Anthoons was appointed by the board as general-manager and holds this function up to the present day.

Flarus has a long experience in working in the agro-food industry. Where our main business in the beginning was concentrated on equipment and machinery for the agro industry in general, we gradually specialized in the food processing and packaging industry. At this moment, we are the leading supplier for processing equipment for the oil and fat industry (margarines, industrial fats, delicatessen sauces).

Parallel to the fat and oil industry, we are active in the dairy industry. Apart from technical dairy ingredients, we offer complete dairy plants from milk reception over processing to packaging. In the past we regularly exported heifers and agricultural equipment. The last years we also moved to the bakery and confectionary market, by offering processing and treatment lines for a.o. biscuits, waffles and other confectionary products. In the near future it is also our intention to offer complete lines for bread and breadproducts; amongst others raw, frozen and parbaked products.

An important factor in our network is our strategic partner ZAO Antagro, a Russian legal entity founded in 1998 with foreign capital, centrally located in Moscow which has the same owner as Flarus NV. ZAO ANTAGRO has a work force of 12 motivated Russian sales managers and food technologists and is managed by a Belgian, living in Moscow. In addition ZAO Antagro provides technical assistance, i.e. maintenance and spare parts, as well as supervision of mounting and putting into operation works all over CIS territory.

Following the swift developments in the Ukraine we created in 2003 a representative office in Kharkov, Ukraine, responsible for the follow up of the Ukrainian market, enabling us to keep closer contact with our numerous customers in the region. Also in Ukraine, we offer technical service and assistance.
